Description
Tour de Tonka (TDT) welcomes all riders and volunteers to a great annual event on Saturday August 7, 2021. In just over a decade’s time, the annual Tour de Tonka bike ride has become a staple of the west metro community, growing from 819 riders in 2006 to nearly 3,500 riders annually. Riders from more than 166 Minnesota cities and 42 states have participated in the event. Countless riders from across the state tell us each year that Tour de Tonka is Minnesota’s Ride. “Tour de Tonka is the destination for newer as well as veteran bicycle riders who desire a unique, highly organized, beautifully scenic, and volunteer-rich bike riding experience.” Tim Litfin, Tour de Tonka Director, said. “Riders come from across the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, the State of Minnesota, the Midwest and the country to ride in TDT. Seven different distances, from 16 miles on up to the Tour de Tonka century ride, full of rest stops, music, snacks and fun await riders of all ages. Check it out - I know you will not be disappointed.” Tour de Tonka’s routes move through 24 west metro communities in the suburban west and west metro counties of Hennepin, Carver, McLeod and Wright. From the cities of Minnetonka, Wayzata and Eden Prairie on the east end of the event, to Delano, Watertown, Waconia and Norwood-Young-America on the west, and all of the beautiful lake and river cities in between. Mound, Chanhassen, Chaska, Victoria, Excelsior, Orono, Deephaven, Shorewood and more – all of which showcase beautiful roads, trails, and scenic views of farms, lakes, and rivers. Tour de Tonka partners with the ICA Food Shelf to give participants an opportunity to make an impact with their ride. A portion of each rider’s registration fee is donated to the ICA. Riders can also donate money or non-perishable food items on or before the day of the ride. Remaining proceeds support Minnetonka Community Education Programs.
