DESCRIPTION:Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is hosting a unique weekend where guests have an opportunity to step back in time and imagine what life was like over 175 years ago. Did you know that one of the routes of the Cherokee Trail of Tears passed about 20 miles from Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park? During this unique weekend event participants will take part in a day trip bus tour along parts of the northern route of the Trail of Tears in Caldwell\, Crittenden\, and Livingston Counties. The bus will take participants to Mantle Rock Nature Preserve\, which is an important point on Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. Participants can also attend an introductory program on Friday night and a Historical and Musical program Saturday night by Laura Hunt Angel. Sign up early because space is limited to 50 participants! Registration: $45 per person\, includes boxed lunch\, transportation\, evening programs\, and tour guide. Registration is limited to the first 50 participants. Must have a minimum of 30 participants. 10% discount on lodging available by calling the park. This event is being co-sponsored by Friends of Pennyrile. Donations to the group help to fund their projects at the park and neighboring Pennyrile State Forest.
